Welcome to my blog „Der Brandenburger Tor“!
I started this blog 10 years ago, to create a place for discussion on philosophical, political, social topics and arts. As a diary or place to store my thoughts, memorizations or questions about life – or just to publish some of my short stories (like „Kolloquium im Krankenbett“) which are partly much older than this blog.
I expected my target audience to be our children, grandchildren and friends. So I chose GERMAN as a „natural“ language. I considered this as a store for my own writing, ideas and a place to go back myself over the years.
I did not see a need to identify my readers – so I allow to read this anonymously. And that will stay this way.
I expected quite low traffic figures on this blog, due to this target group of readers. And so it happened: over many-many years the traffic was low. In many cases the users were from outside Germany – and my idea was – of course – that this might be erroneous hits from search-routines, in which users were looking for the famous building in Berlin: „Das Brandenburger Tor“.
Four months ago (mid of march) the following happened: the traffic figures of my blog jumped up from less than 1 per day to the 10-fold number and keeps growing over 15 daily. I must state here: up to date, my WordPress account is not linked to any social media account! Because I do not have any!
Readers come from around the world – only ca. 15% from German language countries.
This makes me curious: who are my readers? Are you using a on-line-translation to read my German texts? Or are you expats? What is your motivation? How did you find my blog?
If you want, you can leave a message to the Admin – that is me, Herbert Börger (Boerger). Or you may use the comment function.
If you have questions yourself: I will answer readily!
Have a nice day!
Herbert Börger
